The grounds of the sumptious Villa Hier, also featured in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels five years earlier, are used in a brief scene of Splitting Heirs, when Eric Idle tries to kill Rick Moranis to become the next Duke of Bournemouth. Released in France as Grandeur et Descendance, we are introduced to the Villa Hier through a sweeping helicopter shot off  Cap D’Antibes before we cut to a then little-known Catherine Zeta Jones on a deckchair. Though director Robert Young was nominated for the prestigious Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film festival in 1993, the film peformed poorly at the box office and has never been released on DVD in the UK.
